Should I partner with a sleep coach for my little one?

should I partner with a sleep coach for my child's sleep

When my twin boys were little, I contemplated this question a lot!  Some babies learn to love sleep from the start. You hear all the stories of “my baby slept through the night at 8 weeks old” and get immediately jealous, right?

Some babies and children have challenges learning to self soothe and develop healthy sleep habits. This lands us as parents into survival mode.  Oftentimes those survival tactics can prolong and make the sleep challenges worse.  That coupled with all of the conflicting information available, you may be feeling desperate for sleep for you and your little one, but unsure what to do.

That’s where a sleep coach comes into play. With expert guidance from a CERTIFIED child sleep consultant, you can transition your family from surviving and sleep deprived to thriving and well rested.

Things to think about when deciding if a sleep coach is right for you

  1. Your baby’s and your health depends on it. Poor sleep can affect the mental and emotional health of both baby and Mom. Poor sleep is linked to numerous health problems in our children, including ADHD, decreased academic performance and obesity.  Not to mention cranky little ones!
  2. Your child may not “outgrow it.” Research shows that sleep issues can often take up to FIVE years to resolve on their own. That’s 1,825 sleepless nights!
  3. All of the advice from parenting blogs, books and family and friends can be daunting. Everyone has his or her own secret sauce for baby sleep. It is all well meaning, but it doesn’t mean it will work for you and your family.  A certified child sleep coach has the tools and knowledge to help your child to be a healthy sleeper. We also take into account your child’s personality and temperament, your parenting philosophies and unique situation.
  4. Transitioning your child’s sleep habits is a process and it helps to have someone in your corner. A sleep consultant can coach you through the entire process, help troubleshoot and be your cheerleader.

If you are exhausted and are contemplating a sleep coach, please reach out.  Our team would be happy to talk with you more about your family sleep challenges and talk about how we can work together!
