I am asked this question A LOT! Perhaps I should step back a minute and first introduce myself…
I am Christine Brown, founder of Bella Luna Sleep Consulting and a Child Sleep Consultant. I am also “Mama” to twin toddler boys, Ryan and Nicholas; a doggy mommy to a Boxer, Max, and a Boston Terrier, Pickles; and a wife to a great guy named Jeff, who is also passionate about healthy sleep!
Most of my career has been in high tech marketing, but I always wanted to find my niche and be able to help others. This is where the story gets good…I had my twins in August 2014 and found myself madly in love, yet overwhelmed and exhausted, just like all first time Moms. During the early days, it was a whirlwind of feeding, diapers and sleeping (them, not me!) As they started growing, I watched their sleep habits change and I was constantly trying to keep up with the changes. I was devouring books on sleep, fascinated about all of the changes my little guys were going through biologically.
At around 3 ½ months, Ryan slept through the night! Ryan is a champion sleeper and taught himself how to sleep and self-sooth early on. Nicholas on the other hand, needed help learning healthy sleep habits. Fast forward to the twins at 5 ½ months old – I was EXHAUSTED. My husband was EXHAUSTED. Nick was still not sleeping and he was EXHAUSTED and cranky. We were fighting. I was struggling at work. (This may sound familiar?) We decided it was time to do some sleep training and had a FAILED first night because we were ill prepared, not truly committed and honestly, didn’t know what we were doing. After more research, discussing the situation with our pediatrician, talking it over as a couple and really getting committed, we put together a plan from all of the reading we had done and were able to successfully sleep train Nick.
The changes we saw in our son and in our lives as a family were remarkable. As Nick became well rested, we could see the change in him. He was giggling, engaged and generally a happy baby. As my husband and I caught up on sleep, we became better parents, spouses and employees. Sleep has really positively impacted our family.
This is why I became a Child Sleep Consultant. I want to help the children and families in New Hampshire create healthy sleep habits so everyone can be healthy, well rested and at their best!
